Local IAI chapters are crucial for building leadership and supports in local communities. A minimum of two IAI members can form a local IAI chapter. Once you have enough members please reach out to us and we will send you a confirmation letter.
Moreover, as an IAI Local Chapter member, you can apply for an IAI position with the SEAC for a district school board. Special Education Advisory Committees are established under the Education Act in Ontario. SEACs provide advice to their local school boards regarding special education programs. In addition, the Board must allow SEAC to participate in the Board’s annual budget process as it relates to special education and the annual review of the Board’s Special Education Plan. IAI members can become representatives for their local school board's SEAC.
Please reach out to us if you wish to represent IAI on your local board’s SEAC or would like to know more about this volunteer opportunity.
